Another year has been added to Gotham Nights' by now long history. We are now
as much as four years old, thus, most probably the oldest existing club in Oslo, if
not in Norway in general, independent of concept. We will celebrate our birthday on
Friday (note!) the 19th of February, by having a concert with one of the Norwegian goth
bands closest to us, namely
Eternal Joy.
They recently released their debut album, "Arrogance & Charm", and have played at
a few festivals, both in Norway and abroad. Definitely one of the hottest Norwegian
goth bands at the moment.
The past year has been very eventful. It all started at our
last anniversary, where the Norwegian band
Cybele
did a terrific concert. Later that spring, we where visited by the band PhY from
Trondheim. The remains of the spring and the summer we had ordinary club nights, but in
August the exiting and very promising French band
Dead Souls Rising
entered the stage at So What!. This was the climax so far that year. But, as commonly
know, one can't rest on one's past achievements, so we started planing a a goth-festival
in October, which was indeed a bold project. Nothing of the sort have been tried in
Norway before. The festival was held at the club
Mars, with large names such as
Apoptygma Berzerk (N)
and
The Merry Thoughts (D).
The festival was by far the biggest and most successful events in Gotham Nights' history,
and people came traveling from all over the country, even from Sweden.
Last year contained a lot, but "we want more". New events is currently being planed, and
we direct our efforts toward a 5th anniversary celebration in the year 2000!!
Come and join us at our birthday party. You are all very welcome to our humble realm,
hidden from the world outside. Doors open at 21.00, it cost 50 N.Kr ($8).
"Once in black, there is no going back" is a motto for us goths. Come and
you'll see what I mean. "Welcome to our realm. Enter freely and out of your own
will." -Freely after B. Stoker.
