Puh... Who would have though that Gotham Nights (GN) would get the
opportunity to celebrate its 5th birthday? We in the committee did
not, probably not our audience either, and surely not the press. But
we made it!. GN is 5 years old next month and have 59 events on its
records: concerts with 27 different bands and a number of other
types of happenings, i.e. release parties, fashion shows and
Halloween parties. That is quite a lot for such a small, idealistic
club as GN, run by people that only work for the benefit of enriching
the nightlife in Oslo - "bringing goth to the people". Maybe it is
not correct to call us small anymore: we have about a 1000 members
and has a regular audience of about 150 - GN have not only showed that
it has a right to exist, but also that there actually is a need
for such a club in the club jungle.
GN will celebrate its birthday on Saturday the 12th of February,
then by bringing onto the stage the best results of its years of
existence:
Elusive (Stavanger):
Elusive is a relatively new band, but consists of members with years
of experience in the music business, and which, even from the start
of GN, have had a close connection to the club. The band consists
of the following members: Tommy Olsson (from
Morendoes and
Theatre of Tragedy),
Jan Kenneth Barkved (from
Morendoes),
Morten Veland (from
Tristania) and,
for the occasion, Jon Eirik Steinstø (from
Morendoes).
This rather unknown collection of musicians has in fact
in their respective bands sold about 100.000 records. The band
is currently in dialog with quite a few major European record-
labels, and might just become the first big Norwegian goth band.

Malice in Wonderland (Bergen):
This band is also rather novel band, with members in their
early twenties - an evidence of the recruitment still going on
in the goth genre. The have released a couple of demo-records, and
have made quite a name for themselves in Bergen - it is in due
time that Oslo get to experience these guys.
|
DJ: Stefan Rosell Shadowland):
Stefan was one of the two guys that started up GN five years ago.
but which retired after two year to concetrate his efforts on his
record store; Shadowland
(www.shadowland.no).
He is back behind the cd-players at GN for this evening, and we are very
proud that he will celebrate the day with us.

You can experience all this at CuRB Saturday the 12th of February,
and then for only 70 NOK. We hope that you will all come and celebrate
this night with us. The location is CURB (Custom Rock Bar) at Storgata 22.
The doors will open at 21:00 and the age limit is 18.
